Contract & Executive Leasing

Executive leasing or contracting is a flexible resourcing option that provides advantages to both contractor and clients.

From a client perspective it provides the flexibility of bringing in specialist skills and experience to cover specific needs such as projects, establishment of new businesses/business units, coverage for parental leave or secondments, change management and other business issues. Contractors can be provided for fixed term, flexible term or open terms, depending on the business requirements. In a number of cases, if appropriate, contractors can move to become permanent employees.

Advantages to employers include known costs (all ancillary, "hidden" costs, such as holiday pay, ACC levies, redundancy etc are included in the agreed hourly or daily rate).

Flexibility without commitment is a key benefit when a resource is no longer required, and there are agreed notice periods with no redundancy or termination costs. Additionally, considerable value can be added by bringing in a higher level of resource and experience to allow business processes or issues to be addressed, documented and structures put in place, so they can be managed by a lower level resource on an ongoing basis.

From a contractor's point of view executive leasing offers variety, challenge, an hourly or daily rate usually at a premium to a permanent role, and the ability to assess a potential employer in detail.

Executive contractors need to be registered for GST and this provides tax effective structuring for business related expenses incurred by contractors.

In a number of areas such as start ups and the establishment of new business units, contracting offers the benefit of "due diligence," where both the employer and the contractor are able to ascertain the degree of fit between the skill requirements, experience and attitude before either party commits to an extended contract or permanent employment relationship.
