Background

Very often a company’s current leadership team is comprised of dedicated and competent people who are capable of running the business as it is today, but are lacking in the experience and horsepower to drive the business to the level to which the owners aspire to take it in the next one to three years. In effect, these skill shortfalls seriously hamper the company’s future financial performance. These shortfalls must be proactively addressed if the company is to realise its potential value to its shareholders.

Objective

The objective for the Leadership Team Review is to provide an independent assessment of the current management team and structure, and to develop recommendations for changes to strengthen the team’s capabilities to meet the strategic objectives as defined by the board.

Process Step 1: Strategy Review

Kinross will review the strategies developed by the board during the board review and develop a scorecard of competencies against which to assess the current management team.

Process Step 2: Leadership Team Assessment

Kinross will conduct competency-based interviews of the senior management team (CEO and direct reports) to determine the capability to effectively implement the board’s strategies. Where necessary, Kinross will conduct reference checks and or testing to validate or confirm conclusions.

Process Step 3: Report & Recommendations

Kinross will produce a report that highlights the current management team’s strengths and weaknesses, and provide recommendations for any changes deemed necessary to augment the team.
