Stuart initially practiced law, gaining experience in commercial, property and administrative law. Subsequently he had an extensive career in banking and finance in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He has worked in operational and strategic management roles, including strategic planning, corporate banking and the establishment of new business units.

Stuart also has strong entrepreneurial skills and was responsible for setting up the first Subway franchises in New Zealand. After selling the franchises in 1999 Stuart joined a specialist executive recruitment company and built a strong recruitment and executive leasing business.

In 2002 Stuart established Kinross. For the last ten years Stuart has specialised in recruiting executive, board and management roles including CEOs, GMs, CFOs, COOs, Financial Controllers, Directors and a range of leadership roles.
